The spectre of Joe Lieberman

Joe Blofeld, leader of The SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion (S.P.E.C.T.R.E.)

Is that thing Joe Lieberman doing called extortion? That thing being his intention to run as an independent in his own party, "Connecticut for Lieberman", if he loses the Democratic Senate nomination in the Connecticut primary next month. Lieberman's opponent, Ned Lamont, has stated that he will support whoever wins the Democratic Primary while Joe has refused to do so. Joe has a lot of chutzpah accusing Lamont of splitting the Democratic Party, which is what Lieberman himself is doing by announcing his intent to run in November even if he loses in the primary.

Lieberman's actions are definately unprincipled, but is it extortion?

Ex`tor´tion
n.1.The act of extorting; the act or practice of wresting anything from a person by force, by threats, or by any undue exercise of power; undue exaction; overcharge.

2.(Law) The offense committed by an officer who corruptly claims and takes, as his fee, money, or other thing of value, that is not due, or more than is due, or before it is due.

3.That which is extorted or exacted by force.

Well, it sure looks like extortion!
